Electronic data is automatically referenced and important passages can be bookmarked and other relevant work papers linked. The proper on- and offsite backup mechanisms protect against loss or fallout, and security software safeguards sensitive records.
As for the cost of a fully integrated paperless system, a firm can recoup its outlay “within a year and be about 40 percent more efficient,” said Pulice. “This is a move that pays for itself.”
“It’s not difficult, it’s more just getting accustomed to printing to another form and learning how to store properly,” said Pulice about the transition. “As long as you have the processes in place that allow people to work in a less-paper environment, they will do it.”
