The efficiency and ease of the paperless work experience far outweigh the cost of converting to a DMS or EMS, said Chapman, who works at Viele Solimano & Swagler CPA, P.C., in Rochester. The firm is almost completely paperless just four years after beginning the process.

At Viele Solimano & Swagler, the general review, preparation and storage of information is done through EMS, DMS and PDF printers, and documents are only rarely printed out for use in meetings and discussions.

According to Chapman, by using EMS software, he can now finish a corporate return in “half the time it took before.” With the time he saves, Chapman can give each client more attention and each case greater analysis.

“Is there still an argument for paper? I don’t think so,” said Chapman. “When you shuffle paper, you work less efficiently.”
